“Project Fumbaro Eastern Japan” won the Golden Nica in the Prix Ars Electronica

Thanks to you all, “Project Fumbaro Eastern Japan”(PFEJ) has won the Golden Nica in the Prix Ars Electronica which is the world’s oldest and most renowned competition in media art.

The Golden Nica is the most prestigious international award in the field of contemporary media art and is also known as the Oscar of Media Art. PFEJ has won this year’s Golden Nica in the category of digital community. Thus, PFEJ is following the footsteps of famous social system like WWW (World Wide Web), Wikipedia and WikiLeaks. They have really changed the world, and we would also like to make a similar impact on society.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, I was finally able to set out my thoughts in my blog as written below.

“It is never possible for us to perceive a tragic disaster positively, but we can think that it has made us better and stronger. We should aim to utilize the experience to make a better future.”

We would like to propagate PFEJ as a model system around the world to help more people so we would like many organizations and individuals to take the good parts of this project, and customize them to fit their needs.

I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to thank you all for your cooperation.
